Yume 2kki:Authors

This page lists the architects of the dream worlds, so to speak, along with a brief description of each, a selected listing of the maps they have made, and relevant contact information. This list will also include some authors who have contributed to the game in other ways, such as adding assets or performing bugfixes.

Authors are categorized as such: core and associate. The former are the main Japanese team members, who can directly contribute to the game following reservation and runner declaration protocols. On the other hand, the latter are authors foreign to Japan and as such are subject to proxy implementation protocols.

The Six-Month Rule is an agreement between the authors, that if an author fails to update within six months of their previous update, then their maps may be freely edited by other authors (unless otherwise specified). The rule is reset when they update again. It's a pretty good litmus in determining whether an author is active.

A is an author known for their simple graphics and strange atmosphere. They authored the Graveyard World and the Hospital.

HAL, from whom Smokin' HAL derives his name, is a author characterized by their flat textures and bright colors, along with simple worlds. They authored the Digital Hand Hub, Stone World, and Geometry World.

20 has requested all edits, regardless of how small, to his maps to be described in detail, and to be bug free.

20, also known as Twenty, is one of if not the most prominent author in the team, with his worlds being known for having detailed graphics and simple but unique atmospheres that differ in most of their work. His worlds have become some of the most known in the whole game, and are largely what defined the unique feel and style that Yume 2kki is associated with. Most of his worlds have remained as some of the most iconic for over a decade. 710 is one of the most prominent authors. He is known for his simplistic artstyle reminiscent of Earthbound/Mother. Most of his worlds try to evoke fear in the players by the use of darker colors and strange figures. Most of his worlds are located in both deep and early parts of Urotsuki's mind, creating some of the most recognizable worlds in the game. He created Purple World, Highway, River Road and more. Dedp is a prominent author known for using edits of publicly-submitted assets in his worlds. Most of his worlds have realistic textures used in surreal settings. Oudn is a prolific author who is known for their wildly varied style and their particular use of colors. They have created some of the most known worlds in the game, being one of the developers who defined Yume 2kki atmosphere in general. Most of their worlds are located early in Urotsuki's dream, being easy to find for new players. They authored Mushroom World, Bug Maze, Realistic Beach and more. 185 Go (百八十五号, No. 185) is an author known for colorful graphics meant to inspire awe. He also is known for the music he made for their work. His worlds are located in the "deep-sea series" (as he put it), Located from the southern part of Atlantis. He created the Star Ocean and the Rusted City.

n3, better known as koronba, is an author known for the music made for his own worlds, which have become some of the most prominent tracks in the game, used commonly by other authors. His worlds visually have calming colors and detailed textures, with the usual lack of NPCs giving them a lonely yet soothing atmosphere. Wataru (わたる) is one of the most prolific authors on the team, with his worlds being known for their largely complex artstyle and world design which use complex dithering texturing that gives their art a realist feeling. These worlds bring with them a strong undercurrent of nostalgia and soft post-apocalyptic theming. Most of his worlds are located in long linear routes deep within Urotsuki's dream world. qxy is a skilled author whose worlds are known for their realist style and heavily geometric worlds. A good portion of their worlds are located in lengthy semi-linear routes within Urostuki's mind; many of these worlds also contain unique mechanics that set them apart from any other worlds in the game. Recently, qxy has become a prominent part of Yume 2kki's core developer team, regularly fixing bugs and adding various quality of life improvements to it. Nantai (軟体, Soft Body, which appears to be associated with molluscs) is an author known for their simplistic world design, along with creating their own BGMs for some of them. Kontentsu is an author whose worlds are characterized for being heavily inspired by the original Yume Nikki, and feature many recurring visual motifs and characters, as well as a route with an implicit storyline. These include NPCs called "01-kun", repeated instances of the number 28, and a separate dreamer known as "???-tsuki" who is found within a second Nexus deep in the dream world. Kurokagi (黒鍵) is an author whose style is currently characterized by simplistic, if somewhat unsettling looping worlds, often set to no music. So far, it seems their current contributions are still incomplete, as exemplified by the lack of BGM in any of these worlds. They created the Unending River, Amorphous Maroon Space, and the Black Sphere World.

Octave is an author whose style is marked by various distinctions among 2kki's authors. Their visual style often employs creative uses of foreground and background to establish a unique setting. The sound design of Octave's worlds is also noteworthy, featuring music tracks that sometimes add or alter layers depending on what the player does. Associate Authors

Associate Authors are authors that cannot directly add their worlds to Yume 2kki due to being non-Japanese speakers, or having no posting access to 5ch due to lacking either a 5ch premium pass or a Japanese IP. These authors' worlds are only added with the help of their proxies, the core authors.

noildoof

noildoof, from the US, is the first Western author to add her worlds to Yume 2kki. She has cited fellow author wataru as a major inspiration. Her worlds feature heavy use of pastel colors and detailed pixel art with memorable NPCs in them. She is one of the most prominent Western authors, and has created worlds such as the Tesla Garden, the Blue Cactus Islands, the Graffiti City, and more. A full list of her worlds can be found here.

Ruri

Ruri (ルリ) is a former author from the US. Her worlds are very detailed and distinct from one other, which were located all over the dream world. She created the now-removed Crystal Caves, Nightmarish Wilds, TV Labyrinth, Chemical Research Facility, and Volcanic Subterrain. In recent versions, most, if not all, contributions done by Ruri have been scrapped. She currently works alongside the developers of another fangame, Uneven Dream (Outotsu Yume).

Río

Río is a Chilean author, whose contributions are inspired heavily by the work of fellow author wataru in both spriting style and world design, though with a considerably warmer tone, a more varied set of creations, and a distinct painterly aesthetic.
